Humber turbine factory to create 200 jobs says Korean firm
A South Korean energy business is set to build its European headquarters in the Humber, creating nearly 200 jobs in the wind energy business.
The offshore wind tower manufacturing facility will be built after CS Wind was given a £1m government grant.
The company, a subsidiary of South Korean CS Wind Corporation, said extra jobs would be created in the local supply chain.
The factory would be the UK’s first dedicated to offshore wind towers.
The money came from the government’s Regional Growth Fund and energy minister Matthew Hancock said he hoped the money would move the development of the factory forward.
“The offshore wind sector is important, supporting thousands of jobs and contributing millions to the economy each year,” he said.
Youngjae Ryu, CS Wind’s UK managing director, said he was “delighted” with the funding announcement.
