Renewables
The EU aims to get at least 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020. This target has created increased demand for companies to support the renewable energy sector. Team Humber Marine Alliance has the capabilities to services projects in the following areas:
Tidal power
Onshore Wind
Offshore Wind
Wave power
The UK has been the largest offshore wind generator in the world since 2008. Already ahead of the game, the UK plans to invest further in offshore developments, with the Government having committed to achieving 10% of power generation through renewable resources by 2010. Government funding shall be disseminated through Regional Development Agencies.
THMA is perfectly placed for integration into the supply chains for two newly commissioned wind farms. The Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm may have up to 83 turbines, and could displace up to 395,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. The Westermost Rough Offshore Wind Farm site is situated 8 km from the coast, approximately 25 km north of Spurn Head at the river Humber estuary. Both of these sites are within easy distance of the THMA members.
Team Humber Marine Alliance members are currently working on a number of projects in the renewable energy sector, including wind turbine tower fabrication, maintenance of onshore & offshore wind turbines, wind turbine gearbox repair, dockside ‘load out’ and onshore wind farm development.
