Team Humber Marine Alliance represents a significant section of regional industry and is highly active and vocal on the skills agenda. Indeed, when the organisation was founded in the 1990s, developing skills to support growing industry was a key element of its strategy.
With the growth of the Humber as the UK’s Energy Estuary, Team Humber Marine Alliance has joined with other key organisations to transform the skillset of the region’s current and future workforce in a number of important initiatives.
These include the development of the:
Humber University Technical College (Renewables & Engineering) in Scunthorpe, of which Team Humber Marine Alliance is a sponsor and a member of the project steering group
THMA Marine & Offshore Skills forum – objective to identify skills gaps, future skills requirements and where possible build local capacity. Focus on providing pathways for careers in the marine/offshore industries including offshore wind crew, deckhands, skippers, pilots, O&M technicians, stevedores etc
Hull College – Ports & Logistics Sector Lead as part of SSW: Working with companies to understand their training requirements and encouraging them to upskill
Hull Training – THELMA Project
Team Humber Marine Alliance will continue to contribute to innovation in skills development, both utilising the training expertise amongst its membership as well as high level, proactive activity to ensure that the knowledge gained from members of the unique challenges and opportunities are met by new initiatives.
