Inland Waterways
From lightships and dredgers to barges, tankers and offshore support vessels, Team Humber Marine Alliance members offer an extensive breadth of experience in the design, construction, repair and maintenance of commercial shipping.
Innovation, skill and competitiveness underpin THMA members, who have an established track record in this sector of the marine industry, and are staffed with the required experts in every field, including marine engineers, naval architects and shipyard draughtsmen.
Vessel conversions also form a key part, including hull extensions, change of use and upgrades. Increasingly, conversions involve energy efficient retrofitting.
THMA members also serve the growing number of opportunities and project initiatives involving the use of the country’s canals and rivers. This includes freight being carried on the inland waterways connected to the River Humber, such as the Trent, the Aire-Calder Canal and the Ouse.
Among the products being assessed for transfer from road transport to the inland waterways are dry and liquid bulks, biomass, biofuel, biowaste and containers.
