Precision Blast Systems helps to solve a dusty problem on HMS Belfast!
The iconic warship, moored in central London, is having its decks stripped of 50 years of paint and re-painted as part of a major refurbishment, the contractor had a requirement for abrasive blast equipment to use in various areas of the deck & superstructure but due to the location, dust and waste had to be kept to an absolute minimum which ruled out the use of conventional blast machines.
Precision Blast Systems recommended the use of their Gritco-ECO machines, 2 sets were supplied along with compressed air equipment to power them, PPE and suitable abrasive.
The ECO machines have accurate control of blast pressure and precise metering of abrasive which greatly reduces consumption, dust and waste compare to conventional blast pots. They use a constantly pressurised vessel which gives instant response, blasting can be done dry or with water mist for full dust suppression when required.
The ECO machines are used for coatings removal & surface preparation in many marine & offshore applications where precise control and low levels of dust & waste are an advantage.
