Point’s new Electrical Division creates jobs and growth potential
Point Engineering Group has launched a new division in response to a huge increase in demand for electrical services. The Point Engineering Electrical Division will provide electrical installation and contracting for industrial and marine clients, particularly in the modular building sector.
The Hull company has taken on four new staff in the venture and hopes to employ more as the division becomes established.
Steve Norton, Point Engineering Group managing director, says, “While we have always employed engineers with electrical qualifications, the new division represents an investment and a commitment to providing a full service which is what our customers want. We have existing fabrication contracts in the modular building industry for which the division will be utilised immediately, but it also presents excellent opportunities for growth in all the sectors the company operates.”
Point Engineering has invested heavily in machinery over the last few years and has been involved in high profile projects including infrastructure work for the London 2012 Olympics, supplying ballistic and blast proof doors for vessels working off the Somalian coast and manufacturing flood defence enclosures. The company works in the marine, renewables, modular building, leisure and industrial sectors.
Jonathan Rollison, Point Engineering Group financial director, says, “In recent months some of our engineers have been involved in projects with electrical control and automation requirements, so the need for full electrical qualification and approval became more apparent. We have launched the new Electrical Division without outside assistance and I have no doubt the expansion will present more opportunities to develop further.”
Launched in June, the Point Engineering Electrical Division operates from the Lee Smith Street head office in Hull.
