Icelandic Ambassador consults South Humber marine and seafood businesses on post Brexit trade

Wilkin Chapman LLP partner and THMA member Jonathan Goolden hosted a working visit of Icelandic Ambassador Stefan Johannesson, to meet Grimsby and Immingham based businesses with strong links to Iceland. In his role as Honorary Consul to Iceland in Grimsby, Jonathan set up meetings for the Ambassador and his Deputy Chef de Mission, Ingólfur Fredriksson with companies and stakeholders connected to the significant seafood trade between Iceland and the South Humber ports, including Associated British Ports, Grimsby Fish Merchants Association, local MPs and North East Lincolnshire Council. The Ambassador also visited the offices of Wilkin Chapman LLP in Grimsby which hosts the Consulate and the Enrolled Freemen of Grimsby who own Freeman Street, the historic link between Grimsby Docks and the town.

THMA chair Mark O’Reilly and Vicechair Camilla Carlbom, together with representatives of Icelandic shipping lines Samskip and Eimskip advised Ambassador Johannesson on port facilities and the need for adequate border inspection post facilities post Brexit.
