GEV Named Finalist in Renewables Awards

The Humber Renewables Awards 2019 has named GEV Wind Power, one of Europe and  North America’s most experienced wind turbine blade maintenance companies, as a finalist in the medium/large business of the year category. The annual awards recognise businesses based in the region that are committed to the development of renewable energy across the Humber – a hub for the industry.

The prestigious nomination was announced by organisers as the energy sector specialist celebrated five years of making Hull its headquarters, and deploying more than 200 technicians around the globe. From providing maintenance for a single turbine manufacturer
GEV now delivers inspection, fabric and tower services to owners, developers and manufacturers worldwide. Offices have been established in Hamburg, Texas and Rhode Island, and turnover doubled last year to £15 million on the back of 91 per cent increase in

David Fletcher, managing director of GEV Wind Power commented on being named a finalist, he said: “We are delighted to be named a finalist and nominated among other Humber based businesses that are driving innovation across the world from the region which is
renowned for being a major hub for the renewable energy industry.“With the continuing support from Team Humber Marine Alliance and Green Port Hull we have been able to leverage our skills and innovations to become a leading service provider within
the wind turbine O&M industry.

“For us this is really only the beginning as we set up our training academy in Rhode Island to develop and grow the GEV brand even further in the USA whilst continuing to expand across European land mass.”

Mark O’Reilly, head judge and chairman and chief executive of Team Humber Marine Alliance, said: “We have seen over the years the projects are bigger and better than they were, and we can almost take it for granted that we have people working on a large scale wind
farm or major solar installation.

“It hasn’t always been that way, and we wouldn’t be talking about it a few years ago. Now, even in the small business category, we have companies working here and exporting knowledge abroad, which is great.”

The 2019 winners will be revealed at an awards night on Thursday, 13th June 2019.
